There are currently a multitude of “so called” adviser companies who call in to the US, and actively targeting British expats (and other nationalities). These outfits are mainly from the UK, mainland Europe and middle east locations, and whilst these companies may be licensed by the FCA or whoever is the relevant body in their home jurisdiction, it does not automatically mean that they are licensed and regulated by the SEC to give advice on US / UK cross border financial planning.
